Church of St Mary, Long Sutton

Church of St Mary, Long Sutton

last week I decided to go to the Church of St Mary, Long Sutton. I booked the company cab for our journey. it's almost far off from London city airport 2 hours 36 minutes and 121 miles. the driver delivered very comfortably the driver was a highly professional and highly experienced person. this is the best cab company in the UK. this was a memorable journey in my life. I very much enjoyed the way when we arrived at that location I feel very well. the place was very attractive and beautiful. so I want to share the story of that place. Once a wild, ecologically rich frontier land, the region around what is now the small town of Long Sutton in southeast Lincolnshire is now. The earliest settlement was located immediately south of The Wash estuary on the western side of a natural divide.

It was possible to cross this divide in some locations at low tide with the assistance and advice of local guides during the medieval era. This divide was the wide, perilous watercourse known as the Wellstream. In the vast marshlands known as Cross Keys Wash, King John's treasure is rumoured to have vanished in 1216 while being transported west from Bishop's Lynn, now King's Lynn. The river is now referred to as the Nene and is located in this largely reclaimed fenland area.

The Celtic Iceni in the east and Coritani in the west during Roman times, East Anglia and Mercia during the Anglo-Saxon period, etc. formed a natural border between tribes and kingdoms in the past. Long Sutton is referred to as "Stone" and is described as "king's land", i.e. directly belonging to the king, in the Domesday Book of 1086, commissioned by William I ("the Conqueror") of England. An earlier Anglo-Saxon church would have existed in Long Sutton, and it appears that it was situated on the current A17 a little further south of the current location, close to the first port and manor house. Although a later church of stone construction may have been built, it is almost certain that it was done in early Norman times.

Early Anglo-Saxon churches tended to be made of wood and would therefore leave little archaeological trace. The first church on the current site was erected by Cluniac monks from Castle Acre Priory in Norfolk sometime around 1134, it is known. There are some really fascinating roof bosses and ceiling vaulting at the south porch entrance from the early 14th century. Such plays were undoubtedly managed to perform here during the reign of Mary I and then into the 1570s after she lifted the Excommunication Order in 1553 following the assassination of King Edward VI's ambassador in this location. The tower houses eight bells that were cast in 1928 and are still rung frequently. As a reminder that Saint Mary's church has kept time for this tiny community ever since the first monks from Castle Acre Priory moved here, the timer chimes the hour day and night and is twice a week.

Our Clients Testimonials

It was shocking

The service was shocking. They ordered a cab for 12.30 that they committed to. After an hour of waiting, they rang twice to say they could only turn up when the driver wanted to.

Happy Trip:

Though the driver was late to reach the airport because of the traffic congestion, he still reached on time as compared to other passengers who were waiting for hours for their cab driver to come.

Best service

I called them late in the evening for 2 urgent orders at 3 am and 6 am to Heathrow and Gatwick. They arrived for both trips on time, in smart outfits, and with a very friendly, professional, and helpful attitude.
