Hampton Court Palace

last week I used a company cab for our journey. my journey started from Gatwick airport to go to Hampton Court Palace. the place was far from Gatwick airport 43 minutes and 33.5 miles. the experience was amazing the driver was knowledgeable he knew about every location he delivered me on time so let's share I history of the Hampton Court Palace. The historic Hampton Court Palace on the north bank of the River Thames is one of England's top tourist attractions and should be high on your UK travel itinerary. Located just a short train ride southwest of central London, this famous English landmark has been at the centre of British history since the 16th century. Hampton Court Palace was built in 1514 as a private residence for Cardinal Wolsey, advisor to King Henry VIII. and a Catholic bishop.

Wolsey later donated the palace to the king as a means of securing his position in English society and at Henry's court. It was also a favourite residence of Queen Elizabeth I, whose long reign from 1558 to 1603 allowed England to firmly establish its position on the world stage. The State Apartments are the highlight of any visit to Hampton Court.

A good place to start your visit is at the Buttery with its excellent film depicting the life (and death) of Henry VIII's wives. The highlights of the surviving parts of Henry's Quarters are the magnificently decorated Great Hall and Great Guard Chamber. Also worth seeing here is the Chamber of the Royal Council and the Processional Way connecting the rooms. The Great Hall in particular is a worthy place to stay. Not only is it England's largest medieval hall, but it has also become one of the most famous theatres in the country, even hosting Shakespeare's company in 1603. Apartments of King William III. designed by Christopher Wren. All were decorated with beautiful and delicate wood carvings created by the 17th-century master craftsman Grinling Gibbons. In the state apartments, the opulent Great Bedroom was not where the king slept, but where he dressed in the presence of his courtiers.

In continuous use for over 450 years, the Chapel Royal at Hampton Court has a stunning wood and plaster ceiling said to be perhaps the best example of Tudor interior decoration in a palace. Also here are the historic King's Benches, where Henry VIII sat when he read his young wife Catherine Howard's accusation of alleged indiscretions before their wedding. A replica of King Henry's state crown, the original of which was melted down by Cromwell, is housed in the Royal Pew. Visitors can also attend Sunday services here. These include Holy Communion at 8.30 am, Choral Matins at 11 am, and Choral Evensong at 3.30 pm. The company journey was very comfortable I felt very well. Highly recommended.
